Thank you Amy Boden Fredritz from Edwards Jones Investments for dropping off these wonderful heart-shaped treats for us yesterday ?
Thank you again.
Have a wonderful week ?

We are excited to see all of you!

May 3rd, 2020

We will be open our normal hours beginning tomorrow, by appointment only, though it will be what we consider a “soft” opening as we work to prioritize appointments and care for patients with more urgent concerns. We will be working with new procedures and equipment in place, and some things will look a little different, but we are excited to see all of you!

Good morning, and happy Monday!

May 3rd, 2020

Good morning, and happy Monday! We miss all of you and hope to be giving you an update soon as to when we will be back open for non-emergency care. We are open on a limited basis for emergencies and urgent dental care, so please do not hesitate to give us a call if you have a need.
In the meantime, we wanted to take this opportunity to introduce you to Kayla, who joined our team at the beginning of the year. She graduated from Owens Community College in 2017 for dental hygiene and will graduate from the University of Findlay this winter with a business degree. She’s passionate about promoting good oral health in her community and loves helping others. Outside of work, she loves spending time with her husband Zach and one and half year old son, Beckham. They enjoy traveling together and spending time outside. Kayla can’t wait to meet all of you!

Dr Nagy’s Orthodontic Q & A – Vlog Episode 2 | Early intervention Phase 1 orthodontics

December 20th, 2018

In some of the cases shown in these pictures, early braces (also called phase 1 orthodontics) might be beneficial to a young patient. When a child’s upper and/or lower arches are too small, and the teeth are very crowded, it may be difficult for the permanent teeth to have enough space to erupt into the mouth. It has been found that a small arch is the main reason for impacted canines.
Early braces, with often expansion and occasional timely removal of selected baby teeth, can help to make spaces for the adult teeth, and can potentially help prevent:
- having have to remove adult teeth later on
- impaction of adult teeth, that can even lead to root resorption or root shortening.

- Reduce the severity of the case, which makes it easier and faster to treat to an ideal smile later on.

Early braces can also help address other orthodontic problems such as crossbite, underbite, overbite, open bite, and finger sucking among many conditions.

To help prevent these orthodontic problems, Dr. Michelle and Dr. Attila Nagy recommends that children to be evaluated for orthodontic problems and conditions no later than age 6. With early orthodontic diagnosis, prevention, and treatment, many families can potentially prevent a child from having have to undergo extensive, and often expensive orthodontic treatment later on.

At Oakwood Dental, Dr. Michelle and Dr. Attila Nagy offer free consultations and free records for braces. We can let you know if it would be beneficial to have early orthodontic treatment, or if it is appropriate for a child to wait until they are older to begin treatment. We also make it very convenient for our patients, since we can closely monitor a child's teeth when they are in for their preventative cleaning appointment and exam every 6 months.

Once a patient is in braces, as General Dentists we closely monitor dental health and hygiene each time a patient is seen for a braces check. (We can even schedule cleanings to be done on the same day as a braces check so that the wire is taken off allowing us to clean around the brackets completely!) We offer orthodontics for children and adults. Early, phase 1 braces, to comprehensive orthodontics as well. Many adult patients have several options from conventional braces, clear braces, Invisible Lingual braces (Incognito) to Invisalign as well. We love to give ALL of our patients the healthy, beautiful smile they deserve!

Also, at Oakwood Dental, Dr. Michelle and Dr. Attila Nagy donates part of the proceeds from braces, and orthodontic treatment to the Bucyrus community, in the form of “Most improved student” high-school scholarships in the four surrounding school districts.

Children who snore loudly or sleep poorly are more likely to have learning problems

October 29th, 2017

“Children who snore loudly or sleep poorly are more likely to have learning problems, difficulty paying attention in school and be hyperactive.“

Did you know that snoring is abnormal in children?

Know the signs of childhood sleep apnea and prevent life-long disease.

Symptoms of child sleep apnea

If you're concerned your child's sleep troubles may be a sign of sleep apnea, here are some symptoms to keep an eye out for. While many of these signs can be observed during their sleep, some of the symptoms may manifest during the day.

•Snoring. Approximately 10% of children who snore have sleep apnea

•Mouth breathing. Children with enlarged adenoids tend to breath with their mouths open.

•Breathing pauses during sleep

•Daytime sleepiness

•Difficulty with concentration

•Poor attention span

•Behavioral issues

•Poor performance at school

We can help both children and adults. To schedule a free consultation, call (419) 562-4378
